Salem and Cumberland Counties are the most economically depressed counties in the state of New Jersey, but they are often overlooked for programs for youth. Lacking large industry and being mostly farming communities, resources are scarce and opportunities lacking particularly for the underserved populations. We have also seen that it is particularly difficult to get girls in STEM through high school and the few that we do see progress usually do not end up pursuing STEM education in post secondary avenues. There are also few role models in these counties. This year, we will pilot a program in July, 2017 called It’s a Girls World Inc. that will focus on girls entering 7,8, and 9th grades providing a three year program with two weeks face to face in the summer focusing on career options in STEM and will include 4 half days of face to face mentoring and a virtual year round mentoring program. Mentors will be trained prior to the start of the program

Iron Plaid Robotics is one of the only all-girl robotics teams competing in FIRST Robotics Competition. Each year, we receive a set of guidelines for a new game at the beginning of January. From that first day, our team has 6 weeks to build a competitive robot that follows game guidelines. Iron Plaid members put in on average at least 22 hours per week designing, engineering, building, and perfecting our robot. We use our knowledge of programming, CAD, and mechanical equipment to develop a robot that can win! Our accomplishments include: • Qualifying for and competing in the World Championships five times • Winning major awards by General Motors and Underwriters Laboratories for engineering, design and safety • Appearing on ABC 13 and Fox News • Having the Mayor of Houston declare an “Iron Plaid Day” • Engineering Inspiration at Alamo Regional We need to attract some women mentors for our terrific all-girl team!

We currently partner with 94 schools across the State of Delaware and always have a need for more mentors. Mentors meet with the same student for 30-60 minutes during the school day each week throughout the school year. Although we provide mentors for male and female students, we would love to partner with you to jump start females at an early age. Our programs are in pre-k through 12th grade.

We would be grateful to have approximately 15 mentors (5- per grade level) mentor females at our school that are interested in STEM focused careers. We would love for the mentors to frequently check in on the students, advise them, encourage them, and be another "cheerleader" in their corner. We also have a GEMS (girls engineering math science) club and can always use guest speakers.

The REACH Georgia Scholarship Program was designed with the middle band of students in mind – low-income kids who demonstrate true academic promise, but may not have the personal motivation, academic preparation or financial support they need to obtain a postsecondary degree, diploma or career certificate. Students from low-income households often lack the guidance and support they need to prepare for college, apply to schools that are an ideal fit, apply for financial assistance, enroll, persist and ultimately graduate. While we serve both boys and girls, we are in need of mentors across the state of Georgia who can commit to a weekly touch point (with a minimum of 2 face to face meetings) throughout the school year.

We seek STEM mentors to come out and speak to our middle school campers about STEM careers/professions and real-world experiences at our ten summer camp locations in eight states (TX, OK, PA, NC, NY, NJ, AR, AK). The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp (EMBHSSC) is a two-week residential camp hosted at colleges and universities across the nation. In the summer of 2017, The Harris Foundation (THF), in partnership with the ExxonMobil Foundation, will sponsor 10 residential camps during the months of June-August. Each camp will provide an average of 40 rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students the opportunity to enhance their proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) while living on a college campus - all at no cost to the child or family. **Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr. is a former NASA astronaut and the first African-American to walk in space. THF is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization based in Houston, TX and was founded by Dr. Harris in 1998.

Black Girls Dive Foundation, Inc., inspires young girls to explore aquatic-based STEM careers such as Underwater Archeology/Maritime Archeology, Marine Sciences and Oceanographic Studies. Mentorship is embedded in our H2O SCUBA STREAM program. Through integrated learning of SCUBA and STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) workshops, participants build underwater remote operated vehicles (ROV) with camera. Participants use the ROV to explore diverse marine ecosystems. Participants will also take the skills learned and compete in science competitions with the ROV.

ABI.Chicago is looking for women in STEM careers to mentor those just entering the field as well as those who have been working in the industry for years. This will be primarily a virtual volunteer opportunity. Mentors can post a profile on our website and then notify the members of their availability in a discussion thread. The length and frequency of the mentoring sessions is entirely between the two parties that match. They can chat via phone, Google Hangout, conference call or Skype. Face-to-face meetings are not a requirement but possible if agreed by both parties. MWM members are welcome to attend our monthly events. ABI.Chicago is the local chapter of the Anita Borg Institute.

We are a group of around 20 young girls with a passion for technology, coding, and robotics. We compete every year in the First Tech Challenge but we are indeed a rookie team. Our team started just two years ago and we have gotten far with the little tech knowledge that we have, these past two years we have guided ourselves with youtube tutorials on how to code and build a robot. Our school has seen the tremendous amount of passion and love that we have for our robotics team called Thunder Chicks that next year we will be having an engineering class. Since we will be having more time to work on our robot we hope to grow a much more as a team and hope to branch out and find mentors that are willing to help us through this upcoming 2017-2018 journey.

Our middle school girls could benefit from additional mentoring, namely a mentor in the field of science/technology/mathematics. Our middle school girls suffer from a variety of emotional and social issues. Many struggle to maintain good grades in the more challenging academic subjects. Our girls would benefit from the extra support and mentoring to excel in school and apply to rigorous academic programs of study for high school. This school year we had about five proficient science fair projects completed by our middle school young ladies. They could truly use the additional push and support to compete and be successful.
